I designed this poster for the play, “The Crucible,” in the style of the Bauhaus. It features an abstracted accusatory finger off of which hangs a noose. This represents the result of being accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials. The noose also resembles a string tied around the finger, representing the idea of remembering. This ties in with “The Crucible” as it was written as an allegory for McCarthyism and draws parallels between that time and the Salem Witch Trials. The play reminded the audience of another time that had many similarities.
